NGC 7635 – The Bubble Nebula
Date/time: 28.09.2008 20:12 to 28.09.2008 22:20 Az./Alt. positions: 48° / 61° to 31° / 75° Ambient conditions: 5°C, transparency 3/5, seeing 3/5, high clouds Location: Trier, Germany Equipment: Telescope: Celestron C8 at f/7.3 with JMI focuser Flattener: Alan Gee with 2 spacers in front of the camera Mount: CGE, selfguided with ST-4000XCM Camera: SBIG ST-4000XCM Acquisition: Software: CCDSoft V5 FOV, Image scale: 35.6 x 35.6 arcmin, 1.03 arcs/pixel Sub-exposures: 2h 2min (12 x 610s) light frames at –25°C 50 x 610s dark frames, 16 x 0.1s light box flat frames at –15°C 50 bias at –15°C for flat calibration Processing: Flats normalized in CCDSoft, bias calibrated and stacked in IP 3.0, calibration, stacking, high/low pixel reduction in Images Plus 3.0,stretching, curves and levels adjustments of single channels and final tweaking in CS3. Comments: The Alan Gee has to be connected directly on the camera, otherwise no focus is obtained. It means no filter can be used. Due to the high light pollution typical at my place much processing of the background was necessary. After so much struggling to image with the C8, at this point I decided, this would be one of the last photos with this telescope.
