M 08 – Lagoon Nebula Date/time: 25.07.2009 23:40 to 26.07.2009 02:15 Az./Alt. positions: 187° / 21° to 221° / 9.5° Ambient conditions: 22°C, transparency 5/5, seeing 5/5, Location: Monte Amiata, Agriturismo Poggiobello, Italy
Equipment: Optics: TMB 92 SS f/5.5 with TSFlat 2 Mount: CGE Guiding: selfguiding with ST-4000XCM Camera: SBIG ST-4000XCM Filters: No Acquisition: Software: CCDSoft V5 FOV, Image scale: 100.9 x 100.9 arcmin, 3,01 arcs/pixel Sub-exposures: 2h (12 x 10min) lights at –15°C, 50 x 10min dark frames, 30 x 0.02s EL flats at –10°C 50 bias at –10°C for flats calibration Processing: Steps in Images Plus 3.75: Calibration, ExcAvg combine, DDP, neutralize background, background/highlight smoothing, brightness Levels, Adaptive Richardson-Lucy deconvolution, Gaussian noise reduction. Residual gradient eliminated with GradientXterminator in CS3. Comments: Excellent dark site near Monte Amiata (South Tuscany, Italy) at 900m above see level. No LPS filters were necessary and imaging was possible up to very low altitutes. Some more exposure time would bring more faint details of the nebula.
