M 45 – Pleiades
Date/time: 11.08.2010 03:00 to 11.08.2010 04:00 12.08.2010 03:30 to 12.08.2010 04:00 Az./Alt. positions: 83° / 29° to 94° / 41° Ambient conditions: 18°C, transparency 3 to 5/5, seeing 4 to 5/5, Location: Tatti, Tuscany, Italy
Equipment: Telescope: Deltagraph 300mm f/3.3 Mount: CGE Camera: SXVF-M25C Guiding scope: Orion short tube 80mm f/5 Guiding camera: ATIK 16IC Filters: no
Acquisition: Software: Maxim DL 5 FOV, Image scale: 62.5 x 54.8 arcmin, 1.62 arcs/pixel Sub-exposures: 44min (22 x 2min) light frames No darks, 100 bias, 50x0.2s flats
Processing: Images Plus 3.75: Calibration of light frames with bias and flats, DDP Maxim DL: Stacking of calibrated frames with SDMask CS3: curves and levels, color balance, GradientXterminator, Carbonis Actions, color enhancement using Gabany method
Comments: This is a test object shot at the end of the night, when the Pleiades was still too low on horizon. Only 44min total exposure is not enough. CGE is at its limit with the 25kg heavy Deltagraph: setup very wind sensitive. In order to achieve a flat field by applying flats one needs to calibrate the light frames with darks or bias, otherwise a srong radial color gradient will appear.
